3. Introductory training of activists and their partners

An essential part of the project is an initial three-day training of 10-12 key activists of community based Roma organisations as well as representatives of local authorities from 3-5 municipalities of North-East of Bulgaria. Three to five participants from Serbia and Macedonia are included in the training as well. In this training the participants will learn about the adapted Mother Center’s concept. They also will get practical directions and advices on how to advocate and intermediate the establishment of Mother Centers in their communities. In addition, they will learn how to do inclusive planning and participatory implementation of integration activities. The training will be combined with a study visit to the Mother Center – Sandanski for an insight into the practical work of Mother Centers. The training will be done by an international team of senior trainers with large expertise and experience on Mother Centers and advocacy with local authorities.
Outputs & outcomes from this activity and indicators:
• Participants from Bulgaria and Serbia gained knowledge about adapted Mother Center concept. They build competences for inclusive planning & participatory implementation both of the local activists and local authority representatives
• Increased motivation and willingness of the 10-12 local activists and local authority representatives to set up Mother Centers.
• The outcome indicators here are the started negotiations with the local authorities about Mother Centers establishment and the number of made decisions in favour of starting up Mother Centers
